RESPONSIBILITIES
- Day-to-day clinic operations
- Champions the dental clinic’s implementation of lean principles, including optimization of daily readiness huddles, use of issue cards and escalation, review of metrics and problem-solving, process improvement efforts and design, education of staff in Lean best practices, and ongoing and regular improvement of standard work and confirmation processes.
- Oversees and directs all aspects of day-to-day clinic operations and ensures that they are conducted in accordance with the policies and procedures established by DSHC.
- Responsible for provider and patient scheduling to ensure maximum patient access and satisfaction, achievement of productivity goals, and financial viability.
- Gathers data and creates reports for daily and monthly productivity and other key indicators, reports results to management, and takes appropriate actions within the clinic to ensure clinical goals are met.
- Ensures optimal use of the Electronic Dental Record (EDR) and the Electronic Health Record (EHR) by all clinical staff; participates in ongoing EDR maintenance and development through participation as an EDR Super User.
- Responsible for, either directly or by delegating the central supply process and maintaining the annual supply and equipment inventory.
- Works in the clinic as a practicing dental team member at least 0.5 FTE or as determined by the Dental Director and/or Operations Director.
- Program planning and evaluation
- Support clinic profitability by optimizing patient flow, improving service utilization, launching new services, maximizing dental integration, and participating in grant applications and funding opportunities.
- Consults regularly with providers regarding provider scheduling and performance.
- Assists in planning, implementation, and evaluation of dental clinic operations; makes recommendations regarding policies and procedures, goals, projects, and priorities in accordance with DSHC strategic goals.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care, seamless patient experiences, and effective communication across services.
- Quality Improvement and regulatory compliance
- Regularly collaborates and partners with the Quality and Development Director to develop improvement projects that improve the quality, safety, cost, growth, and access of the dental department.
- Regularly partners with managers across DSHC’s teams to help improve patient care and access in all areas of the clinic, including the optimization of integrated care.
- Leads, implements, evaluates, and maintains QI activities and reports for the dental clinic, including participation in the staff quality committee as needed.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and compliant work environment according to all federal, state, and local laws and regulations including OSHA, WISHA, and HIPPA.
- Investigates problems, adverse events, and patient complaints related to the clinics; determines and carries out appropriate follow-up action according to DSHC policies.
- Leads the implementation of consistent and effective dental peer review on a quarterly basis.
- Supervision and development of staff
- Provides direct supervision, orientation, coaching, and ongoing performance management of dental assistants and dental patient registration staff.
- Demonstrates well-developed leadership skills. Provides staff training and employee tracking of job competencies, provides appropriate staff development, prepares evaluations; mentors, and coaches staff on performance.
- Completes monthly staff schedules and authorizes approval for paid time off (PTO).
- Assists in the recruitment of dental staff.
