POSITION SUMMARY: The Behavioral Health Clinic Manager’s function is to oversee and support
behavioral health operations, to ensure smooth, continuous delivery of high-quality patient care, efficient
workflows, and a financially viable program, to assure the delivery of comprehensive care coordination
of Behavioral Health services to Desert Sage Health Centers’ patients and their families, to be responsible
for accurate and complete documentation of service to patients and families, to work as part of the
Behavioral Health team, to take responsible for contacting patients by telehealth, letter, phone, and/or
portal to address follow-up care, and to collaborate with other Behavioral Health team members assisting
in the promotion of the health and well-being of patients.
The Behavioral Health Clinic Manager works under the supervision of the Operations Director and in
close collaboration with the Behavioral Health Director to align clinical operations with strategic and
clinical goals, ensure continuity and quality of care, and foster effective, team-based service delivery
across all behavioral health services.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
The Behavioral Health Clinic Manager – Providers leadership supporting the Desert Sage Way; respect
for people and continuous improvement.
1) Day-to-day clinic administrative operations
a) Oversees and directs all aspects of day-to-day clinical operations support and ensures that they are
conducted in accordance with the policies and procedures established by DSHCs.
b) Responsible for provider and patient scheduling to ensure maximum patient access and satisfaction,
achievement of productivity goals and financial viability.
c) Gathers data and creates reports for daily and monthly productivity and other key indicators, report
results to management, takes appropriate actions within the clinic to ensure clinic goals are met.
d) Ensures optimal use of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) by all clinic staff; participates in ongoing
EHR maintenance and development through participation in (or delegates to another employee to
participate in) EHR Super User responsibilities.
e) Ensures that lean standard workflows are followed defect free with continuous improvements and
adjustments as necessary to provide patients with a value-added experience that is focused on superior
quality.
2) Program planning and evaluation
a) Assures sufficient provider coverage in the clinic by preparing and maintaining provider schedules.
b) Consults regularly with Behavioral Health Director and clinicians regarding provider scheduling
efficiencies. c) Assists in planning, implementation, and evaluation of behavioral health clinic operations;
makes recommendations regarding policies and procedures, goals, projects, and priorities in accordance
with DSHCs strategic goals.

3) Quality Improvement and regulatory compliance
a) Participates in quality improvement processes and implements, evaluates, and maintains QI activities
and reports for the behavioral health clinic, including participation in audits, data validation, and
outcomes monitoring to ensure service quality and regulatory compliance.
b) Maintains a clean, safe, and compliant work environment according to all federal, state, and local laws
and regulations including HIPPA.
c) Investigates problems and adverse incidents and patient complaints related to clinic; determines and
carries out appropriate follow-up action according to DSHCs policies and sends reports to the designated
risk manager for incident reporting tracking.
d) Standardize where possible to create predictable, reliable, results (best way today) and decreases
variation when variation is not desired.
4) Supervision and development of staff
a) Provides direct supervision, orientation and ongoing performance management of behavioral health
care coordinators, and other support personnel as applicable.
b) Demonstrates well-developed leadership skills. Provides staff training and employee tracking of job
competencies; provides appropriate staff development; prepares evaluations; mentors and coaches staff to
support professional growth, skill development, and performance improvement.
c) Completes monthly staff schedules and authorizes approval for vacations, continuing education, and
other leave.
d) Assists in the recruitment of behavioral health clinic support staff.
e) Helps with training new support staff quickly and effectively in the Desert Sage Way.
5) Attendance
a) Ensures attendance and hours worked are accurately recorded in the computerized time keeping
system.
b) Properly manages paid time off.
c) Responsible for regular, predictable attendance and work hours as scheduled.
6) Desert Sage Values

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Baccalaureate/Associates degree in Public Health or in appropriate health field or a combination
of education and experience preferred.
• Experience with outreach activities preferred.
• Knowledge and experience with case management approach.
• Experience with interagency coordination.
• Bicultural/bilingual or experience working with Hispanic population.
• Functional in electronic applications including, but not limited to:
o Electronic Behavioral Health Record
o Electronic Medical Record and Practice Management applications
o Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, and Excel
o Web-based applications

PREFERRED COMPETENCIES:
The manager position requires the following:
• Significantly advanced knowledge and ability to implement the Desert Sage Way.
• Significantly advanced organizational skills to organize projects, supervision of the work of
others, and management of operations at the behavioral health clinic sites.
• The ability to work independently and as part of multiple teams.
• Individual development of priorities for effective performance of duties, including reprioritization
in response to changes in circumstances.
• Consideration of the way the work affects other employees outside the department or functional
area.
• Mentoring of staff members such that they are empowered to participate in improving workflows
and in the creation of their own standard work.
• The exercise of management authority over other employees including behavioral health care
coordinators and other behavioral health support staff.
• The compilation, interpretation and reporting of information.
